TAMILNADU ADDITIONAL CHIEF SECRETARY MURUGANANDAM, CHENNAI WATER BOARD TEAM VISITED HMWSSB ON 28.01.2023
The Tamilnadu Additional Chief Secretary Sri Muruganandam and officials from Chennai Water Board Sri Kirlosh Kumar, MD and Chief Engineer Ramaswamy visited HMWSSB on 28-01-2023 to study the services provided by the water board, the methods adopted in the supply of drinking water, waste water management, technology usage and revenue aspects. The Tamilnadu Additional Chief Secretary praised the services provided by HMWSSB to the residents of Hyderabad city.
Sri M. Dana Kishore,IAS, Managing Director, HMWSSB welcomed the officials with flowers and felicitated them with shawls. Later, the MD comprehensively explained the services provided by the HMWSSB and the reforms undertaken through a power point presentation.
The methods adopted by the HMWSSB on drinking water supply, sewage treatment process, construction of new STPs, usage of IOT and modern technology equipment, usage of sewer jetting machines and sewer croc machine for sewer cleanings etc.
The MD informed about the performance of digital monitoring, Annual Maintenance System (AMS), Safety Protocol Teams (SPT) and various apps developed being developed by HMWSSB through IT Cell.
The measures that are being taken for the safety of the workers, as per the standard operating procedure and the provision insurance facility for their protection, etc.
The Managing Director said that all this was possible with the foresight of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who is acting as the chairman of Jalamandali and the Direction of Municipal Administration Minister Sri KT.Rama Rao. He said that HMWSSB has been a compass for the country's non-human sanitation works and got the appreciation from the Prime Minister's for the same. The MD also said that the HMWSSB received ISO certification for best quality of water in the standards of transmission, distribution pipeline, chlorination, treatment, etc.
Additional CS Sri Muruganandam has praised the HMWSSB services are amazing and the services are ideal for other states.
The Chennai Water Board MD Sri Kirlosh Kumar praised the HMWSSB for the best qualitative changes brought in various wings like digital monitoring, AMS, SPT, billing, collection etc. He said that efforts will be made to implement these in Chennai as well.
Later, the officials visited field trip in SR Nagar and studied the functioning of Sewer Croc Technology (a robotic machine) which is used to remove garbage, sand and gravel sludge from UGD pipelines. The MD explained that this technology will be used to avoid the sewerage workers not to enter into the manholes directly whereas the machine will enter through manholes and clean the pipeline.
The Chennai team also visited the Rainwater Harvesting Theme Park built with 42 types of water conservation methods and made them aware. Finally the team visited Madhapur area to study the performance of AMR meters at field level.
Tours mirroring the visits to HMWSSB from other States:
The visits of officials from other cities to study the procedures and performance of the water board reflects the work of the board. Earlier, a team of 22 AP officials visited HMWSSB in February 2021 to study the ongoing developments in HMWSSB. Delhi Jal Board officials also made a visit to HMWSSB twice last year.
All the HMWSSB Directors, CGMs, GMs and other officials accompanied the Chennai Team and cleared the doubts raised by the members.
