WOMEN HAVE A KEY ROLE TO PLAY IN CONSERVING WATER, SRI M. DANA KISHORE, MD, HMWSSB ON EVE OF WORLD WATER DAY ON 22.03.2022.

Sri M. Dana Kishore,IAS Managing Director, HMWSSB has participated as chief guest at the awareness programme on the occasion of World Water Day-2022  at Sarojini Naidu Women's College Auditorium, Nampally, Hyderabad organized by Save Earth Foundation (NGO).

Speaking on the occasion, he said that girl students should become water leaders in order to conserve water resources. He said that women have a lot of compassion, kindness and love for nature in creation and therefore women should play a key role in water conservation. Women are more aware of the value of water and the problems that may exist without water, and therefore asked women to fulfill their responsibility to conserve water and pass it on to future generations.

Many countries in the world are currently facing water shortages. India is one of them. Nevertheless, the city of Hyderabad is one of the major freshwater cities in the country, the HMWSSB is collecting and purifying fresh water about 200 km from the Godavari and Krishna rivers to provide fresh drinking water supply to the city. However, some people are wasting water with ignorance. Many are of the opinion that there is no awareness of water problems in the coming days. He said that if water is not conserved now, there is a risk of many problems in the future. It was suggested that precious water is being treated in other countries with the technology available after use for domestic use and for other purposes such as construction and gardening.

Sri Prakash Rao, Chairman of Telangana Water Resources Development Corporation and college management participated in the programme.

HMWSSB conducting 10 days Awareness Campaign on Water Conservation from 22-31 March 2022 as a part of World Water Day – 2022 Celebrations.

On the occasion of World Water Day, the Water Board decided to hold 10 days of special awareness programs from 22-03-2022 to 31-03-2022 on water conservation. The programs began on 22-03-2022 with the coordination of 19 NGOs in 19 HMWSSB O&M Divisions, awareness programs are being conducted on construction & maintenance of Rain Water Harvesting Pits within each section. During the campaign period of 10 days, the water board officials, NGOs, local public representatives will participates to make the awareness campaign a success.
